3 Things I Stopped Caring About That Made Me Better
At some point the things I used to care about most became the things slowing me down.
I was letting external noise drive decisions that should’ve been mine to make. What other people were building, whether everyone agreed with my choices, whether the outcome was coming fast enough.
Letting go of these 3 things changed how I operate more than almost anything else.
Here’s what they were👇
1- What other lifters/business owners are doing:
As time has gone on, ive been dead set on running my own race. There’s always gonna be someone bigger, someone smarter, stronger or richer.
Ive just gotta make sure im beating my old self over and over again and winning MY race.
Personal excellence is soon to follow
2- Being “Liked”
Dont get me wrong, I like being liked. Everyone does.
But it’s not the driving force behind everything I do anymore. I make the decisions that are right for me, my family, my business even if they’re unpopular decisions in the moment.
3- Being Overly Outcome Driven
This one is hard to explain in a way. Because having a date on the calendar is important to me and so is reaching my goals.
But it’s no longer my sole source of motivation. Instead, I focus on truly enjoying the middle part and getting better in that window instead of being solely outcome driven.
This has allowed me to create a new definition of success for myself based on my daily execution rather than just the OUTCOME.
Did I crush my training session? Did the content get posted? Did I help my clients?
If yes. Then I won the day.
The big wins will come later.
The common thread across all 3 is the same.
I stopped measuring myself against things outside my control and started measuring myself against my own standard. My own race. My own values. My own daily execution.
That shift doesn’t happen all at once. It’s a slow reorientation that builds over time until one day you realize the external noise just doesn’t land the same way anymore.
